All Wired Up: Mirza Teletovic
Mirza Teletovic – Nets (ESPN 50 percent, Yahoo 36 percent)
Maybe some of his production was due to the fact that Brook Lopez was out with a foot sprain and Mason Plumlee racked up four fouls in 11 minutes, but it was hard to ignore what Mirza Teletovic was able to do in the surprise loss to the Celtics. Teletovic had 20 points (8-11 FG, 4-6 3Pt), six rebounds and two blocks in 23 minutes. Couple that with his red-hot finish to last season, where he made 2.5 triples per game in the last 15 games and if you need a deep shooter off the wire, there won’t be many better available than Teletovic. He’s not necessarily a must add in 10 team leagues, but if you are hurting for scoring and three-pointers, he should be snapped up without hesitation.
Tony Wroten – (ESPN 7 percent, Yahoo 32 percent)
As is often the case early in the season, the hot guys on the waiver wire are players benefitting from another’s demise. In the case of Tony Wroten, it’s the shoulder injury to Michael Carter-Williams that has opened up playing time in the fantasy friendly Sixers’ starting lineup. I must admit, I was shocked to see Wroten’s ownership percentage so low. Not only is Wroten a must-own in leagues of 14 teams of more, he should be owned in pretty much all leagues, assuming you can stomach the horrific percentages. Against the Pacers, Wroten had a team-high 22 points (9-21 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 3-8 FT), eight rebounds, seven assists and three steals in 35 minutes, in a line eerily similar to what MCW was putting up last season. While Carter-Williams sits, Wroten is going to get plenty of burn, but when he returns, coach Brett Brown has stated that Wroten will play backup point, not as the two, so his value becomes muted. I still believe in deeper leagues, he’ll still be worth holding, as long as you can absorb his efficiency deficit.
