How to watch the Gems take on the USA for Under 19 World Cup gold
Damian Arsenis
28th Jul, 2019

Australia will take on the USA in the final of the 2019 FIBA Under 19 World Cup for women in Bangkok, Thailand on 28 July 2019, with tip-off at 10:30pm AEST.

While The Pick and Roll has been able to provide live streaming coverage of each of the Gem’s games up to and including the quarterfinal stage via our Facebook page, we have since come to learn that Fox Sports Australia has since secured exclusive rights to broadcast the medal rounds. This also means FIBA’s live stream via YouTube will be unavailable in Australia due to geo-restrictions.

The Gems advanced to the final after accounting for Spain 64-55 in the semifinal, setting up a rematch with the Americans who defeated the Australians 79-56 in their opening game of the tournament.

Gems through to World Cup final against USA with win over Spain

Australia last won the event in 1993 when they defeated Russia in the final, while they fell by just 4 points to the USA four years later in coming away with silver. After earning bronze medals in 2013 and 2015, the Gems return to the gold medal game for the first time since 1997, some 22 years ago. The USA on the other hand have won the event a record 7 times, however lost the most recent edition of the tournament to Russia by just 4 points.

With Australia starting to find their rhythm just at the right time, the playoff for gold is likely to deliver an enthralling contest and one not worth missing.
