The Pick and Roll will be signing up as a sponsor of SWR Sport’s SWR NBL program for the remainder of the 2017/18 NBL season.
The agreement includes a commitment to bolster SWR Sport’s online presence, specifically the SWR NBL broadcasts on NSW NBL games, featuring the Sydney Kings and Illawarra Hawks.
“For us at SWR Triple 9, it’s great to partner up with Australia’s largest and most respected independent basketball news source,” SWR Sport’s Head of Sport, Julian Daw said.
“The Pick and Roll is a proven place for young writers to cut their teeth in the world of sports media and SWR Sport is much the same combining the next great crop of Australian broadcasters with experienced professionals to create a unique voice in Australia’s sports media.
“We’ve already broadcast A-League, W-League and the Socceroos World Cup Qualifier in our 8 weeks of existence but we are extremely proud to be the new home of NSW hoops action as a proud broadcaster of both the Sydney Kings and the Illawarra Hawks. We love the NBL, we love the Kings and Hawks and we are proud to bring hoop fans live and free action all season long.”
Co-founder of The Pick and Roll, Damian Arsenis is similarly positive about the partnership.
“It’s great to link up with SWR Sport who are broadcasting Sydney and Illawarra NBL games live. Like The Pick and Roll, the SWR Sport team are doing a great job at boosting the profile of the league through providing another channel that fans can engage with live.”
The SWR broadcast team includes rising star Julian Daw (Crocmedia/K-Rock Football/Triple M) longtime respected NBL commentator Matt McQuade, 400 game NBL veteran and 2005 Kings championship player Ben Knight, Illawarra Hawks veteran Troy “the Truck” Pilon, WNBL commentator Keyan Kramer and newcomer Daniel Pettigrew.
SWR NBL’s next broadcast will be tomorrow night when the Kings host the Taipans at 7pm.
