WNBA: George, Mitchell and Talbot make the cut, Phillips and Jarry waived
There were plenty of Aussies featuring in the Seattle Storm versus Phoenix Mercury preseason contest, with Jenna O’Hea and Sami Whitcomb fronting up against Steph Talbot, Cayla George and Leilani Mitchell. The trio at Phoenix have all secured a spot in the team's final 12-woman roster, while Erin Phillips and Rachel Jarry were not so fortunate, both waived by their clubs.
Both George and Talbot starred for Phoenix, helping them secure the 72-55 point win. Both girls top scored for the match with 16 points each, while George added 6 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals, Talbot managed 1 assist and 3 steals to complement her game.

Point guard Mitchell wasn’t far behind with 6 points, 2 rebounds and 5 assists for the match.
Sami Whitcomb continues her dominant form in the hopes of making a position on the Storm’s final roster, banking 12 points alongside 2 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal during this match. O’Hea was also solid in delivering 4 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals.

Dallas were able to secure a win over Indiana at 80-75. Erin Phillips continued her reliable form with 2 points and 3 steals in 14 minutes. However it was not enough to secure her place on the roster, soon after being waived by the Wings.
It wasn’t a great day for the New York Liberty as they took on Connecticut Sun. They suffered a 79-57 loss, it was a tough day in the office for the entire team and Australian Rebecca Allen was no exception, totaling just 1 rebound for her 11 minutes of time.

The Atlanta Dream were given a hiding by the Minnesota Lynx, going down 113 - 67. Aussie Rachel Jarry put in the work with 8 points and 2 rebounds in 11 minutes of play. Despite her efforts, the Dream decided to waive Jarry two days after their battle against the Lynx.
