Which Awards are the WNBL Missing?

With the WNBL Awards wrapped for another season, let's consider the some alternative honours the league could consider including to best recognise its talent.

The WNBL Awards have come and gone, and the winners? They were largely as expected. Izzy Borlase was a no-brainer for MVP. No-one had a bigger breakout than Dallas Loughridge. Perth almost had its entire starting five across the All-WNBL teams. And so on.

But across such an exciting season, infused with so much talent, and so many remarkable feats, a number of players were ultimately overlooked. And while not every player can win a prize, it does pose the question: what other awards could - or should - the WNBL recognise?

A quick look around the world’s sporting landscape offers an insight into a number of alternative award categories the league could consider adopting. So, what if the WNBL took some inspiration from across the globe and added in some additional categories? Here’s the awards the WNBL could consider adopting in the future, and which players would be the beneficiaries.
