The NBL1 has thrown in another interesting addon to the 2022 season. It might take some time to get your head around it, but it does have some legitimate upside.

If you’re a little confused about what the NBL1’s Wildcard series really is, don’t worry, you’re not the only one.

In fact, it almost feels like a Christopher Nolan movie, because just when you think you’ve wrapped your head around it another question pops up.

But don’t worry, here at The Pick and Roll, as always, we’ve got your back. So let’s take a deep dive into what we can expect from the NBL1 Wildcard Series.

More basketball

Don’t go getting skeptical about the new addition to the NBL1 schedule, because put simply it just means more basketball. Considering how much we’ve been starved of it over the last 22 months, there’s nothing wrong with a little extra Aussie hoops to add to your diet.

In total, it will be 36 games, with the Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence/NBA Global Academy (CoE) taking on the top teams from around the country from the too-brief 2021 NBL1 season.
