Thybulle see Boomers Olympics campaign as "exciting opportunity", final decision to come after NBA season
It sounds like Matisse Thybulle is warming up to the idea of competing in the green and gold, when the 2020 Tokyo Olympics come around in July.
According to AAP, the Sixers guard is ready to go beyond the call of duty, and eat Vegemite to prove his Australian heritage. "If that's what it takes I might, but if I don't have to I'm not going to," Thybulle grimaced.
He also confirmed that there will be no issues on his Australian passport and citizenship, and views the prospect of representing Australia as an "exciting opportunity". Thybulle confirmed that he would make his decision on the commitment at the conclusion of the NBA 2019/20 season.
The Boomers have long been known for their roster continuity and chemistry, especially with this generation's core in Joe Ingles, Patty Mills, Matthew Dellavedova, Aron Baynes, along with veteran Andrew Bogut. New situation and fit aside, Thybulle's familiarity with incoming Boomers head coach Brett Brown's coaching tendencies --who also leads the 76ers-- would certainly help ease the challenges of adapting to national play.
Thybulle's potential addition to the squad shines a light on the uncertainty fellow Australian and Philadelphia teammate, Ben Simmons has had with regards to his recent health. Simmons is currently suffering from reported nerve inpingement on his lower back, and the 76ers have yet to announce a timeline for return.

This season, Thybulle has played 53 games, averaging almost 20 minutes of play a game, recording 4.7 points, 1.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists in his rookie season so far.
The Philadelphia 76ers are currently fifth in the Eastern Conference with a 37-24 record, and face the Los Angeles Lakers next on Wednesday, 2pm AEDT.
