The WNBL MVP race may be over, but what about the other awards?
Sami Whitcomb is the runaway leader for WNBL MVP, but the race for other major awards is wide open.
With under a month left to play in the 2024/25 WNBL regular season, we’re well and truly into the business end of the season and as we entered Round 12 with just one win separating fourth from last, every game has meaning and playoff ramifications.
The race for the postseason isn’t the only facet of the season heating up. The awards season race is on and while Sami Whitcomb is surely in the midst of an MVP campaign, other awards are up for grabs in the run home.

Not discrediting the performances of other star players this season, but it starts and ends with Sami Whitcomb for MVP.

She flew out of the blocks with 27 points and 7 rebounds in the season opening win over Adelaide and hasn’t missed a beat since, scoring under 16 points just twice in 16 outings. Averaging a league-best 21.2 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5 assists per game, Whitcomb has looked a level above everyone else on the court plenty of times throughout the season.
She’s had some outrageous games, but her triple-double of 16 points, 13 rebounds, 10 assists and just one turnover against Perth is early December was a masterpiece.
