The 36ers relentless pursuit of greatness
Last year, it was Bryce Cotton. This year, it's Trevor Gleeson. This is what it looks like when a club is all in breaking a 25 year championship drought.

The Basketball Gods giveth, and the Basketball Gods taketh away.
NBL Finals. Game Two, Adelaide. Scores tied. Bryce Cotton’s attempt at a game-winning lay-up drops through the rim just as time expires. Pandemonium.
NBL Finals. Game Five, Sydney. Scores tied. Bryce Cotton’s attempt at a championship-winning lay-up falls short just as time expires. Pandemonium.
Arguably the greatest single play in the club’s history, before arguably the greatest play that never was. And if Cotton did convert in game five, this would be an entirely different story.
Instead, we’re here talking about how the Adelaide 36ers have appointed Trevor Gleeson as their new head coach. It’s not quite divine intervention, but it still feels like a miracle. First they signed Bryce Cotton, and now they’ve landed the man who guided the Wildcats to five championships?
Despite what Perth fans might think, this is not some kind of biblical event, or a precursor to the apocolypse. This is the result of a club willing to leave no stone unturned, and exhaust every possible avenue, in its quest to bring a drought breaking title back to Adelaide.
The seed of signing Trevor Gleeson was first planted back in February.
