Summer of Patty over, preseason 'Thrills' begin
Patty Mills got the starting gig in the San Antonio Spurs preseason opener, as they went down to the Sacramento Kings 92 – 95 at Sleep Train Arena.
It’s been an action packed (American) summer for Patty ‘Thrills’ Mills to say the least. It started by answering an SOS call from the Boomers,

then shooting this year's (in)famous HEB commercials with the big guns of the Spurs,

and finally, successfully teaching Tim Duncan how to kick a Sherrin through a door...well it would have been successful except for THAT GUY!!

Today it was time to get back in the silver and black uniforms and start playing some NBA basketball again. With Tony Parker resting his aging body after EuroBasket, Mills started alongside boom recruits David West and LaMarcus Aldridge.
Matched up on Rajon Rondo, Mills came out of the blocks slowly, missing his first two shots in a forgettable, low-scoring quarter. In the second quarter Mills was at his spark-plug best, waking the game from its slumber by hitting 9 points without a miss and frequently disrupting the Kings with his pesky defense.
Mills finished the game with 11 points on 5 of 7 shooting (1 of 1 from downtown), dishing out 5 assists and grabbing a steal in 23 minutes of action.
The better news is the shoulder troubles, which forced a delayed start and patchy form last season, appear behind him and Mills looks set for another big year as a firestarter off the bench.
