For most basketball fans, the Under-18 National Championships are all about the next generation. There’s always sure to be a host of players that will one day graduate to the NBL1, NBL, Boomers, or maybe even the NBA. They typically work their way through the ranks, easing in during their bottom-age year, starring as top agers, then moving up until they find their place at the senior level.

They’re the future of senior basketball in Australia, but this year’s tournament was dominated by the future of the age group itself. A host of bottom-age players made the jump into the under-18 ranks and took no time to settle in, leading their teams to success and fast-tracking their own development.

The end result? A team at the top of the podium for the first time in 35 years, plenty of exciting action, and a host of standout individuals from right across the country. We’re taking a look at just some of those standouts from a massive week of basketball. This isn’t a ranking of the best players, but a breakdown of a handful of the young stars that stood out on the big stage, presented in no particular order.
