Santamaria: Tacko Fall to the South East Melbourne Phoenix?
Could it be Tacko Time in the NBL?
According to the NBL's Liam Santamaria, the South East Melbourne Phoenix have an opportunity to pick up 7'6 centre, Tacko Fall.
Having a disruptive physical presence like this could very well change the complexion of the league, but Santamaria did lay a disclaimer on that possibility. "But, [the Phoenix] want to play an uptempo style, so whether [the Tacko discussion] progresses will be interesting to see."
The Phoenix recently signed Next Star Terry Armstrong, the NBL's third high-profile Next Star to commit to the 2019/20 season.
During this year's NBA Combine, Fall established new records in wingspan (8 feet, 2.25 inches), standing reach (10 feet, 2.5 inches) and height with shoes (7 feet, 7 inches).
The undrafted Senegalese big man is currently playing for the Boston Celtics in Summer League on an Exhibit 10 deal, and has been a fan favourite, drawing assorted cheers from the audience.
“A lot of guys I would assume get tired of that type of attention, but he handled it like a pro,” Celtics Summer League coach, Scott Morrison said. “I knew he would be a crowd favorite, but I didn’t know he would be the favorite of the Summer League on Day 1. So hopefully he can play well so we can get him out there as much as possible. He definitely made an impact for us, I think he was plus-18 in 10 or 11 minutes. So it’s hard to knock that.”
Fall also made highlights in college by blocking Zion Williamson, who was drafted #1 by the New Orleans Pelicans in this year's NBA draft.
