Round 5 Preview
Friday 26 May 6:00PM | Cairns at Sunshine Coast
The Dolphins will be bolstered by the arrival of American import Alli Gloyd in this one. Gloyd will add another presence in the paint for Coach Worthington. Can the youngsters from Sunshine Coast keep up with the experienced Dolphins?
Friday 26 May 6:30PM | Mackay at Ipswich
Ipswich comes into this one off the tough loss to Logan, and it doesn't get any easier as the Meteorettes sit on the top of the QBL ladder after three games. Can the Force stay with Mackay or will Macktown wear Ipswich down with their depth?
Friday 26 May 6:30PM | Townsville at Gladstone
Both teams enter this game with identical 2 - 1 records. The Power will have the home court advantage. Gladstone pulled off the upset of Rockhampton a few weeks back...can they do the same to the Flames or is Townsville too deep and talented for Gladstone?
Saturday 27 May 5:00PM | Gold Coast at Logan
Logan and Gold Coast are on opposite ends of the QBL ladder as the Thunder currently sit in 4th spot with a 3 - 1 record and Gold Coast sitting at 13th and still looking for their first win of the season. Can Gold Coast handle the Logan pressure for 40 minutes?
Saturday 27 May 5:15PM | Capitals at Spartans
Both of these teams are undefeated, making this rivalry game even more exciting! In their last game the Capitals pulled off the last second win over Cairns, and Spartans then blew out the Dolphins by 22 points the next day. Both teams have championship aspirations so this will be a big game. Can the Capitals put together a complete performance? Will Spartans continue to roll through their QBL competition?
Saturday 27 May 5:30PM | Townsville at Rockhampton
This will be one of the best games of the round as the talented Flames visit the equally talented Cyclones. Darcee Garbin battling with Abby Bishop will be awesome as will the matchup between Rachel McCully and Natalie Novosel. This one will come down to the benches...which one will step up to help their team get the win?
Saturday 27 May 5:30PM | Cairns at USC Rip
USC has been playing some good basketball but has struggled to put together a complete game for 40 minutes. They face Cairns who is on a back-to-back. Rip will be looking for more points from Brooke Le Mar and Claire Maree O'Bryan if they want to get the win in front of their home fans.
Saturday 27 May 6:00PM | Mackay at Toowoomba
Toowoomba is looking for their first win of the season and it will be a great one if they can do that against Mackay. The Mountaineers need big games from imports Ezria Parsons and Francis Donders if they have any chance to pull off the upset.
Sunday 28 May 12:00PM | Mackay at South West (see live stream details below)
Pirates added another weapon to the roster this week as American import Shelby Cheslek arrived in Mount Gravatt. Her debut will certainly help Pirates guards Maddey Willey and Sidney Parsons try to slow down Nadeen Payne, Tami Willey and Micaela Cocks. This is going to be another great QBL game in Round 5!
