It’s been almost two years since the Boomers bizarre Paris campaign.

From selection drama, to blowing a 24-point lead against the eventual bronze medallists Serbia, the 2024 Olympics were somewhat of anti-climax after the highs of Tokyo.

However, it’s time to move on, with the Boomers next major tournament just over 12 months away.

If qualifying continues on its current path, Australia will find themselves in Qatar for the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

The tournament presents itself as a changing of the guard for the Boomers, with new coach Adam Caporn taking over from Brian Goorjian and long-time stalwarts Patty Mills, Joe Ingles and Matthew Dellavedova likely to be on the outer.

So who will be fronting up for the Boomers?

Well, we’ve had a crack at putting a squad together…

Josh Giddey

This is now 100% Josh Giddey’s team.

There was was some debate heading into Paris about the old guard vs the new guard, but come the 2027 FIBA World Cup, the Bulls guard will have the keys and the pressure will be on him.

We’ve seen Giddey perform well at FIBA level and if he can manage his turnover numbers (five per game in Paris), Australia can go a long way and he will be an tournament All-Star Five contender.

Over to you Josh.
