A stack of player movement makes predicting the awards hard, but it’s a fun exercise highlighting some of the narratives to look forward to this season.
On the eve of a hotly anticipated new season, here are our picks for some of the key awards.
Suzy Batkovic Medal (MVP)
Anneli Maley is the defending winner here, and her all-action game and scoring feats (she led the league in scoring with 19.8 points per game last year) will likely make her a frontrunner again. Her rebounding numbers (15.7 per game) were historically good – to put her feats in context, Rachael Sporn and Suzy Batkovic, the two leading rebounders in WNBL history, both averaged 8.6 rebounds per game across their careers.
