Pledger re-signs to continue strong Breakers core
Joining already contracted Kiwis Corey Webster, Mika Vukona and Tom Abercrombie; Alex Pledger has re-signed with the New Zealand Breakers on a three year deal.
The Breakers have had some movement in their front office already this off-season with Dillon Boucher acquiring the General Manager position, while Paul Henare takes over the reigns of head coach.
However the solidity on the floor hasn't changed, with New Zealand's key objective to build a core group of players for long term success continues to flourish.
"He was the only big I was after. He knows this club, lives and breathes our values and will only go on to dominate even more with a strong off-season under his belt," Henare said after Pledger's signature was inked to his new contract.
"He is the sort of player we can build a team around. I am delighted to announce his signing in the face of fierce opposition for his signature."
Pledger did have offers elsewhere, once again contributing to the Breakers core values and togetherness for the centre to make the decision to stay put.
"The key for me in committing to a new deal was having Dillon and Pauli on board as GM and head coach," Pledger said.
"Ultimately it came down to the Breakers is home for me. It would not be easy to leave a club that has given me so much."
Pledger averaged 6.45ppg and 5.6rpg when having an interesting season last year, having started on the bench behind import Charles Jackson before replacing him mid way through the season in the starting line-up.
