No Swaggy P after all: Melbourne United announces Stanton Kidd signing
The tantalising possibility of Nick Young (aka Swaggy P) in an NBL jersey will have to bide its time once more. Melbourne United announced the signing of 27 year old forward, Stanton Kidd on Friday.
“Stanton is someone that I got the opportunity to coach in Las Vegas a couple of years ago,” United head coach, Dean Vickerman said. “He’s a 6’8” wing who is very versatile, can play multiple positions, guard multiple positions on the floor and shoots the ball at a good level. He’s long and a good athlete – he was someone we were certainly looking at in Summer League this year and then he progressed to make an NBA roster."
Kidd replaces the injured Casey Prather as a replacement, and played in Germany, then Turkey, before his recent stint with the Utah Jazz during NBA Summer League, and made it to their official roster before being waived in late November.

The 6'8 wing's versatility was pointed out by Vickerman more than once, especially his ability to switch between both forward spots.
“I think he can add to the pace that we want to play at; he gets up and down the floor well and with his length, I think he can be a high-level defender in this league.”
Kidd will likely make his debut with United on Boxing Day against the Cairns Taipans.
