The return: Abby Bishop is coming home to the WNBL with the Flyers
Abby Bishop is returning to the WNBL and remains as hungry as ever to add another championship to a resume that is already overflowing.
Abby Bishop, an Olympic bronze medallist, WNBA champion, three-time WNBL champion and 2015 WNBL MVP, will suit up for the Southside Flyers in WNBL season 2021/22. Her return to Australian shores further indicates the Flyers mean business as they aim for back-to-back championships.

“I actually wasn’t planning on coming back, but Cheryl [Chambers – Southside coach] called me out the blue and just told me they were looking for a post player and she’d love to have me,” Bishop said. “I had to think about it for a little bit, but once I thought about it, I just knew that is was a great situation and obviously with what’s going on in the world it’s a great time to be playing at home.
“With how strong the league is, it’s super exciting for me to be back, especially being part of such a wonderful team and organisation.”
