NBL1 key signings heading into the 2022 seasons
We're edging closer to the start of the respective NBL1 seasons and there has already been some big signings.
The 2022 NBL1 season is almost upon us and rosters are beginning to take serious shape. There have been re-signings, players switching clubs, and new talent making their way into the various NBL1 competitions across Australia.
Who has landed the big fish and which players look set to have the largest impact at their new home?
Here are just some of the key signings for 2022β¦
Sam Short (Ballarat > Eltham)
Eltham may have been one of the few menβs teams in 2021 that were happy the season got called off. They had a record of 2-11 and had serious struggles offensively.
The signing of Sam Short is a great boost for the Wildcats, who lost Adam Doyle in the offseason. Short, who was a former Melbourne United development player, was recently signed by the New Zealand Breakers as a nominated replacement player. It came after a good 2021 NBL1 campaign with the Miners, were he averaged 13.5 points, 4 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game.
The Wildcats will still need to land some big names if they want to compete with the top teams in 2022, but Short is a fantastic start considering his length and his ability to create for himself and others.
