NBL 2014/15: It’s unanimous - Brian Conklin is the 2014/15 MVP
Townsville Crocodiles star Brian Conklin was named the 2014/15 NBL MVP on Saturday night, capping off a brilliant season for the American despite his team finishing sixth with just 11 wins.
Conklin averaged 18.6 points per game for the season – good enough for fourth-best in the league – and shot the ball at an outstanding 50.7% from the field on his way to league-highs of 188 field goals and 151 free-throws made.
The big man also pulled down 6.4 boards per contest and had six double-doubles.
He tallied 111 votes to hold off enigmatic Breakers point guard Cedric Jackson (101) and Kings and former NBA star Josh Childress (94) who could only manage 18 games due to injury.
Melbourne’s Jordan McRae, Cairns’ Scottie Wilbekin and Adelaide’s Jamar Wilson all rounded out the top five with 83 votes apiece.
There is little doubt Conklin deserves the award for his remarkable season, which brings us to the first ever #TeamPnR NBL MVP.
