Mojave King to be the Cairns Taipans' Next Star
Following the announcement of Josh Giddey as the NBL2020/21 season's first Next Star, NBA Global Academy teammate, Mojave King has confirmed his signing with the Cairns Taipans as the second Next Star.
King, who is a 6'5 high-scoring guard, grew up in Brisbane, Queensland, and could be Australia's second NBL Next Star, should his citizenship application be approved.
“I am very excited to be a part of the NBL Next Stars program,” King said to Fox Sports Australia's Olgun Uluc. “The NBL has a proven track record of providing opportunities for emerging players and the (league) is the perfect platform for me to showcase my skill set to NBA scouts, coaches and GMs.
“I am looking forward to continuing my development and growth as a player with the Cairns Taipans. I have had some great conversation with head coach Mike Kelly, and I really value the high care factor they have for one another. I can’t wait to get home and play in the NBL.”
King had been speculated on by The Pick and Roll's Ayush Gautam as a potential Next Star candidate in December last year, and impressed in his performances during NBA Global Academy's tournament in Spain, at the 2020 Torneo Junior Ciutat de L’Hospitalet.
