It was just announced today, that Liz Cambage will make the All-Star team in this year's WNBA All-Star, which will be held in Las Vegas' Mandalay Bay Events Center from 26 to 27 July 2019.
The Las Vegas Aces is will represented this year, with head coach Bill Laimbeer coaching at the 2019 All-Star game as well, and captain A'ja Wilson, who made All-Star and top rookie last season. Aces guard and three-time All-Star, Kayla McBride has also been selected to the team.
This selection makes it the third time Cambage makes WNBA All-Star status. Cambage has started 12 games out of 14 played so far, and averages 15.6 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists on 23.9 minutes a game. The centre ranks second on the Las Vegas Aces in scoring behind A'ja Wilson, and 11th in the league on both scoring and rebounding averages.
Cambage is still recovering from an earlier Achilles injury, but is rounding into form as the WNBA progresses.
“I am just getting back into it,” Cambage told The Pick and Roll in Las Vegas last week. “I was out for ten months and my first training session was a week before the season started. I am getting my game fitness and my touch back as the games go along. The first few games were super frustrating. I was missing shots that are normally my bread and butter. It’s all coming back, and it is just about being patient.”
