Kelly Wilson on breaking the WNBL's all-time assists record
In her 22nd season of WNBL action, the Bendigo veteran is as canny - and as unassuming - as ever.

Kelly Wilson is a marvel, one of the enduring wonders of Australian basketball. She’s done it all in the sport, and at 41 years old, she remains one of the WNBL’s headiest floor generals.
But trying tell her that.
“It’s not something I put a great deal of thought into,” she says with typical modesty of her most recent record, becoming the league’s all-time assist leader.
“My teammates really got around me, which was lovely, and my family came to watch; that was nice. But maybe it’s something that I'll reflect on later, when I retire and look back on my career.”
Coming into Bendigo’s round 12 clash with Geelong needing just one assist to surpass Kristen Veal’s tally of 1617, Wilson shrugged off a recent injury setback and achieved the milestone just a couple of minutes into the contest.
