Jade Melbourne in Seattle: Australia's newest WNBA player on adjusting to the big time
The 20 year old is settling in at the Seattle Storm, one of the WNBA's most successful franchises.
“It's definitely a more physical game,” Jade Melbourne told The Pick and Roll of her early impressions of the WNBA. “Everyone here is a lot stronger and more athletic. So, that's probably been the biggest adjustment for me coming into the league, but I feel like I'm doing a really good job adjusting to that, and I’m just trying to learn about that the more I play.”
While the physicality may be a step up from what Melbourne has encountered before, she believes her early winters spent playing Australian rules football toughened her up for the grind. She’s buzzing about the opportunity to play in the world’s premiere competition for women basketballers.
