Is a Daniels-Giddey backcourt the way forward for the Australian Boomers?
Dyson Daniels and Josh Giddey are coming off career best NBA seasons, and with both in their early twenties, Australia may have its back court of the future.
The 2024-25 NBA season saw two of Australia’s rising stars stamp their authority against the world’s best players.
22 year old point guard Josh Giddey excelled in his fourth NBA season, which was also his first with the Chicago Bulls. Giddey emerged as the team’s floor general in the second half of the season, and is now firmly entrenched in contract negotiations that may culminate in a deal worth $US 30 million per year. Fellow Victorian Dyson Daniels, also aged 22, similarly found good fortune in a change of scenery, earning NBA Most Improved Player honours in his first year with the Atlanta Hawks.
