Hung(a)ry for success: Steph Reid on European glory and leading the Opals
The tenacious guard's decision to push herself out of her comfort zone has resulted in quite the banner year.

“It was quite a shock,” Steph Reid tells The Pick and Roll of being named Opals captain for the recent Trans-Tasman series against New Zealand.
The 28-year-old had no inkling that the team hierarchy would nominate a captain for the series, let alone that she would get the job.
‘It was so unexpected, to be honest, when I was awarded that. It's such an honour and a privilege, and not something I want to take for granted.
“I honed in on enjoying the basketball because playing for the Opals is such an enjoyable experience. I was trying to bring good vibes and make sure the newcomers felt really comfortable in that environment.”
