How Isabella Brancatisano finally got her WNBL moment
The guard's star turn against the Capitals was the culmination of years of hard work and perseverance

When the Sydney Flames clinched their spot in the WNBL25 finals series, the most unlikely of players was the star.
Isabella Brancatisano hit eight triples (the equal fifth-highest tally in league history) in a total of 26 points. She also added seven rebounds and four steals in the spirited 86-71 win over Canberra Capitals.
It would have been a stellar performance for any player, but it was a revelation for someone who had been out of the league for the past eight seasons.
Yet the 30 year old modestly suggests the breakout game, which earned her Player of the Week honours, was more the result of circumstances than individual brilliance.
“They were denying Shaneice (Swain) very heavily that game,” she tells The Pick and Roll. “So, I was always open in the corner and was lucky enough to knock down a few shots. I was in flow, and that’s my role; if I’m open, I’ll shoot them.”
