Through a string of savvy roster moves, the Illawarra Hawks now have a much deeper roster that fits a clear vision, and has plenty of upside.
When building out a new roster after a 3-win 25-loss season, the shopping list of needs is lengthy, and every tool at your disposal needs to be used. To the Illawarra Hawks’ credit, they landed a Next Star in A.J. Johnson, enticed a college star home early in Lachlan Olbrich, snapped up an in-contract Todd Blanchfield, got a former fully rostered player on a development deal in Biwali Bayles, and then used the Asian player rule to sign Hyunjung Lee as a local.
Head coach Jacob Jackomas hasn’t been left wanting with the talent made available to him.
