When building out a new roster after a 3-win 25-loss season, the shopping list of needs is lengthy, and every tool at your disposal needs to be used. To the Illawarra Hawks’ credit, they landed a Next Star in A.J. Johnson, enticed a college star home early in Lachlan Olbrich, snapped up an in-contract Todd Blanchfield, got a former fully rostered player on a development deal in Biwali Bayles, and then used the Asian player rule to sign Hyunjung Lee as a local.

Head coach Jacob Jackomas hasn’t been left wanting with the talent made available to him.
