Tommy Garlepp re-signs with the Sydney Kings

Sydney Kings co-captain Tommy Garlepp, has today re-signed with the Kings for 2 years, keeping the reigning club MVP in the Harbour City until 2018.
It’s a massive coup for the Kings to secure a steadying influence such as Garlepp, amidst the wide-ranging changes that have engulfed the club in recent times.
The Kings recently announced new ownership, AEG Odgen, which led to sweeping changes across management, the front office, coaching and player personnel. Just a short time ago, the Kings unveiled the hiring of their new head coach, Australian and Melbourne Tigers’ legend Andrew Gaze, as well as the signing of reigning league MVP, Kevin Lisch.
Last week, the club also announced the appointment of new assistant coaches in another Tigers’ legend, Lanard Copeland and former New Zealand Breakers’ championship-winning coach, Dean Vickerman.
AEG Odgen’s chairman, Harvey Lister, has already decreed that success is paramount for the organisation. The recent bold moves made by the franchise indicate that they will leave no stone unturned in order to build a winning team.
"Sydney deserves to have a great basketball team as part of the NBL and the NBL needs a very strong Sydney Kings," he said.
In Garlepp, the new-look Kings have secured another foundational piece in which to build that winning culture. He had arguably his best year yet in the league last season, with career-highs in points, free throw percentage, and flashed a 3-point shot that had him shooting at a 50 percent mark from 1.5 attempts per game.
For Garlepp, his heart was always with Sydney despite the club's struggles throughout the season.
"Oh mate, I’d like to stay in Sydney and hopefully that works out," he said before in a previous chat.
In the end, it all worked out after all with the fan-favourite staying, and with the Kings securing the services of its club champion for another 2 years.
