From Purdue to Townsville: Abbey Ellis stays ready
Abbey Ellis has made a seamless transition from college basketball to life as a pro with the WNBL's Townsville Fire.
After five years in the USA making a name for herself in the college basketball system, Abbey Ellis has returned home to Australia. Less than a handful of games into her WNBL career, she’s already proving herself as a pro.

Playing with the Townsville Fire, Ellis is focused on getting better every day and the opportunity to play under coach Shannon Seebohm – someone who is widely regarded as one of the best development coaches in Australia – was a chance she couldn’t pass up.
“That was kind of a no-brainer with just the way he has developed players, especially guards, like Steph Reid,” she said. “When I first talked to him, he kind of made that comparison and I’m a big fan of hers and I see a lot of my game in her game. Obviously, she's skyrocketed in her career, so that was really something that kind of pushed me to Townsville.
“Shannon is just amazing and he's developed me in so many ways over a short period of time.”
