With the NBL1 season well underway, it’s time to look at a few of the league’s most intriguing prospects that could be heading for a career year in WNBL 2022/23. These include some role players set for stardom and a familiar name in Australian basketball playing her first year in the league.
Alex Sharp
In last year’s grand final run, Alex Sharp was a dependable role player for the Perth Lynx, but there’s evidence she could be so much more. Playing alongside three lavishly talented WNBA-level guards in Sami Whitcomb, Jackie Young and Marina Mabrey, not to mention Lauren Scherf in a career year and an Opals big in Darcee Garbin, Sharp was understandably content to settle into a supporting role.
