EuroView: Ebzery and Bunton win bronze in EEWBL
With Rebecca Allen and Tess Madgen both back in Australia earlier than expected, our group of Aussie females in Europe is shrinking. However Abby Bishop, Alice Kunek, Katie-Rae Ebzery, Alex Bunton and Nat Hurst have been flying the flag high over the last week.
After losing to Good Angels in the EEWBL Semi Finals, Dynamo Moscow turned things around and knocked off Basket Gdynia to finish third in the league. In the match, Aussie Katie-Rae Ebzery totaled 7 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists while Alex Bunton provided 13 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists.
Things weren't as successful in the Russian league, as Moscow went down to Dynamo Kursk in Game 1 of the Semi Finals 77-54. Ebzery finished on 8 points for the match while Bunton had just 2 points.
The Australians playing in the French League came up against each other this week, as Lyon took on Tarbes in Round 1 of the Quarter Finals.
Abby Bishop helped Tarbes to an 80-73 point victory, banking 11 points and 6 rebounds for her side. It wasn’t an easy task for Tarbes however, as Alice Kunek caused some headaches with a stellar game for her side. Kunek finished on 18 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists.
Hatay achieved one win out of their two games in the Turkish league this week. Their win came against Mersin MBK with a 78-69 victory, with Nat Hurst contributing 15 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. The losing match saw Hatay go down to Fenerbahce 103-76, but a healthy effort from Nat Hurst with 11 points, 2 rebounds and 5 assists.
