Emus secure emphatic win against Philippines
Australia raced out to an early lead against the Philippines, taking a 23-11 advantage in the first quarter that got stretched out to 45-26 by halftime. It became a lead that was never relinquished, allowing the Emus to win the 9-16 classification game 82-60.
The Emus' size advantage and defensive pressure took the Philippines out of rhythm on offence early. Transition opportunities were often taken away, and Philippines was limited to tough opportunities in the half court.
Philippines steadied and found scoring in the second half, but the game was never quite in doubt. They could not regain enough momentum to overcome the deficit and regain control of the game, due to turnovers.
