This time last year, the Australian Gems had just tied up their Under 19 World Cup campaign against the US in the gold medal game. They came home with silver as a class of young Aussie hoopers who were set to embark on their freshman year at college.
Two of those players were Emilija Dakic and Sienna Harvey, having gone to Florida and Washington, respectively, in their first yera of division one college. They recently sat down with The Pick and Roll to discuss their journey so far, as the pair both transferred to the Iowa State Cyclones for their sophomore years. Dakic was quick to share of her experience in representing Australia on the international stage.
“I think for me, it’s a massive honour. Not everyone gets to do it and so it’s a great opportunity to be able to represent your country, but also your family on an international stage. I think, yeah, just proud, I guess.”
