Dyson Daniels receives NBA Global Academy scholarship
Earlier today, Basketball Australia confirmed that point guard Dyson Daniels would be receiving a scholarship from the NBA Global Academy.
“Dyson is coming off a strong U18 performance and a very good NBL1 season where he has been a strong contributor on a very good Bendigo team," CoE men's head coach, Adam Caporn said. "He helped Australia win the 2018 U15 Oceania Championship with 15 points and seven rebounds in the final. He shows great promise as a playmaker and can be a menace defensively.”
Daniels was also named to the FIBA Asia Under-16 Men's Cup 17-person squad, after a camp conducted in Canberra earlier this year. A further selection camp from 4-6 September to determine final rosters.
The point guard recently received an offer from Arkansas, and was part of the NBA Global Academy squad that emerged with the championship in the NBA Academy Games in Atlanta, GA.
“[I have] got lots of goals planned, obviously,” Daniels shared with NBL1 during the Next Gen camp. “To play in the NBL, that would be a big goal for me. Main goal is NBA, but taking little steps between them, just looking forward to heading over to camp first and getting lots of good coaching under my belt. Hopefully, college or NBL will be a good pathway for me.”
