CLB3X3 adds events in Newcastle and Lakes Entrance
After a successful Melbourne event at the State Basketball Centre in conjunction with the Melbourne Boomers WNBL game, CLB3X3 has continued to expand adding additional events and an apparel sponsor.
As part of their Aussie Summer Series, Newcastle will be the next host of a CLB3X3 event, with Broadmeadow Stadium expected to transform into a hive of exciting 3X3 hoops on Sunday, 26 February. Lakes Entrance in Victoria will then have their turn, with Main Beach Walk Reserve being turned into a hoopfest in conjunction with Australian Beach Games from Friday, 17 March through the entire weekend.
"It is an exciting time to be involved with CLB3X3 basketball," explained General Manager Matt Hollard.
"The Melbourne event was capped off with a 7 minute showcase game during the Melbourne Boomers versus Dandenong Rangers WNBL game at half time, with CLB3X3’s Melbourne team going up against CLB3X3 Darwin. We are really excited to announce the Newcastle event, but also the one in Lakes Entrance."
There was some definite heat in the Open finals of the men's event, won by Team Darwin who flew all the way from the Northern Territory to compete. Both teams put on a great half time show, with plenty of slam dunks, three-pointers and high-octane action. Champions League Basketball Executive member, former WNBL champion and now commentator, Tracey Browning, was thrilled with the exposure.
“The half time game was of a very high standard, with 3X3 basketball having a very exciting future,” explained Browning.
“It was a great opportunity to work alongside Basketball Victoria, Knox Basketball, State Basketball Centre and the Melbourne Boomers for our Aussie Summer kick off event, and we were seriously impressed with the whole night," added Hollard. "We look forward to working with the Boomers again in the future as well as other WNBL clubs who have shown interest in our product."
"It is with great excitement that we have also signed a 3 year apparel and footwear deal with AND1. We have been working on a sponsorship arrangement for some months now and we could not be happier aligning with this iconic brand known for it’s commitment to street-ball."
Hollard explained that the deal with AND1 would see all competitors who register and compete in a CLB3X3 event being kitted out with a reversible AND1 CLB3X3 singlet which they can wear in CLB3X3 tournament. In addition, CLB3X3 would support the AND1 Cup 3X3 series which runs during the half time of each Melbourne Boomers WNBL home game.
AND1 General Manager David Griffin explained he was happy to support and help grow basketball from grass roots level and up.
"We are very pleased to join with CLB3X3 to help grow 3X3 basketball in Australia," outlined Griffin. "We are committed to basketball at grass roots level and in promoting women's basketball. We look forward to seeing the s port continue to grow over the next 3 years."
CLB3X3 has already conducted successful events in Canberra, Darwin and Geelong. With the new tournament additions to their calendar of events, the chance to win prize money, earn FIBA 3X3 ranking points, and secure a world ranking has never been greater.
