Can't Teach Size: The seven footers defining Australia's future Boomers front court

Since Andrew Bogut's retirement in 2020, the Australian Boomers have lacked a seven foot interior presence, and yearned for rim protection. That may be about to change.

In recent years, the Boomers front court has been commanded by a number of stretch bigs with the ability to shoot from deep, including Jock Landale, Duop Reath and Nick Kay. The lack of a dominant rebounder or rim protector didn’t stop Australia from winning a bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, but the Boomers would benefit from a player who could fill the void left by Andrew Bogut. Not since Bogut has Australia fielded a genuine seven footer with elite shot blocking ability, although that may be about to change.

Here are five teenage seven footers who could shape the Boomers’ front court of the future, potentially facing off against behemoths like Victor Wembanyama (France) and Chet Holmgren (USA).
