Can Dyson Daniels unlock his shooting?
Dyson Daniels signed a US$100 million contract over four years, becoming a key piece in Atlanta's future vision, but has been troubled by an unreliable jumper this season.
The 2024-25 NBA season was one to remember for Dyson Daniels. At age 22 he led the league in steals, and averaged a career-high 14.1 points per game, prompting a panel of media voters to crown him as the NBA’s Most Improved Player. Facing restricted free agency in 2026, at the end of his rookie contract, the Atlanta Hawks wasted no time in extending his services through to the 2029-30 season. A US$25 million per year contract seemed like a quality investment for a potential star of the future, given Daniels’ growth on both ends of the floor. His defensive play drew headlines throughout the 2024-25 season, but offensively Daniels also shot a career high 34.0% from three-point range, on 3.1 attempts per game. The shot was coming along, but his offensive development on that end appears to have stalled in the 2025-26 season so far, with numbers that don’t make for easy reading.
