Ticket prices will start from $89.90 for adults and $69.90 for children for what promises to be one of the biggest sporting events on the Australian calendar in 2019.

"You can feel the excitement and anticipation building amongst the basketball family in Australia and around the world with some of the best players coming to Melbourne for these games," said Basketball Australia CEO Anthony Moore in an official statement.

"We now have 10 players on NBA rosters and a wealth of talent playing in the NBL, the stage is set for the most anticipated basketball games in Australian sporting history."

Geoff Jones, the CEO of event promoter TEG, confirmed that more than 80,000 people have registered on the wait-list, a sign of the huge interest in the games.

"Basketball has enjoyed a real resurgence over the past two years and the Boomers versus USA Basketball series has arrived at precisely the right time to focus the national sporting interest,” said Jones.

"Everything about these games will be truly remarkable, from the collection of stars on court to the fantastic atmosphere for fans. These two events will be unforgettable."

In what will be the biggest basketball event to be played in Australia since the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, event organisers are set to host the games on a purpose-built court, with the 55,000 capacity Etihad Stadium re-configured with state-of-the-art screens and seating. With 2 games set to be played, more than 100,000 fans will have the opportunity to watch in person both the US and Australian NBA-stars in action in Australia.

The last time Australia and the USA met was at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, a game in which the American’s prevailed in a narrow result. With Australia’s presence growing to a record 10 in the NBA and a fourth place at the last Olympics, the games in Melbourne could well be a dress rehearsal for the gold medal game at the 2019 FIBA World Cup that tips off just a week later on August 31 in China.

This is one event that Aussie basketball fans will not want to miss!
