Just a few weeks ago, Aari McDonald could only watch as her Perth Lynx team looked to be falling out of finals contention. After a dynamic start, where she had lit up the league with her quicksilver drives and visionary playmaking, she sustained a knee injury in December, and the losses were piling up in her absence.
“I missed eight games and just seeing my teammates go on a skid and lose consecutively, it hurt,” she tells The Pick and Roll. “I felt helpless not being able to be out there and have an impact. But I mean, it's just adversity, and I didn't let it get to me.
“I didn't cheat myself throughout the recovery process. I trusted the process, I trusted the medical staff, and I think that's why I was able to come back better.”
