Ben Madgen sticks in Lithuania, signs with Lietuvos Rytas
Following a standout season with Lietkabelis Panevezys, veteran guard Ben Madgen has switched clubs and signed with Lithuanian giants Lietuvos Rytas.
Madgen has signed a 2 year deal with an option to extend for a third through to the 2019-20 season. The signing of a multi-year deal is due recognition for the guard whose value has risen dramatically over the past two years.

Madgen enjoyed his best season in Europe to date with Lietkabelis, helping lead them to the Lithuanian Cup and League finals where they fell to Brock Motum's Zalgiris Kaunas. He also played an integral role in their EuroCup campaign in which they qualified for the Top 16, just missing out on the playoffs. He led his side in scoring with 13.7 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2 assists per game while also shooting a red-hot 48.4% from three-point territory.
Since making the move to Europe after starring with the Sydney Kings in the NBL, Madgen's star has soared. In his first season in Europe, he lit up the Belgium Scooore League with Verviers-Pepinster, earning the league's scoring title before signing with Lietkabelis in shooting 19.6 points per game. He made the most of his opportunities in the stronger Lithuanian League and in EuroCup, securing plenty of interest from bigger clubs for next season. He ultimately agreed to terms with one of the biggest and most respected clubs in Lithuania in Lietuvos Rytas.
Like Lietkabelis, Lietuvos Rytas narrowly missed the EuroCup quarterfinals last season but finished in second place in the Lithuanian League regular season standings, just ahead of Madgen's former club. With Madgen a key addition for the 2017-18, they will be looking to challenge Zalgiris for the Lithuanian Cup and Leagues titles next season.
