Australian Schools Championships: Four stars (and more) that stood out in the U20 Boys Championship
The Australian Schools Championships is one of the biggest basketball events in the country, and earlier this month, 216 teams across 20 divisions converged on the Gold Coast for the latest edition.
Secondary school teams from right across Australia put on a show across a jam-packed week of hoops, and while every age group had plenty of highlights, the best of the best sat in the Under-20 Championship Division. Save for a few wildcard selections, every team there won their way through their respective state championships, with those left standing stacked with some of the top young players in the game.
In the Under-20 Boys Championship Division, that translated to an incredible tournament, with close matchups, plenty of twists and turns, and superstars that lifted their game every step of the way. When all was said and done, Victorian powerhouse Berwick College took home the title after an undefeated week, overcoming a stern test from South Australia’s Trinity College in the grand final.
With so much talent on display, it’s tough to pick out the standouts; regardless, that’s exactly what we’ve tried to do. Below are just a few of the players that stamped their papers as stars of the future, in no particular order.
Stay tuned in the coming weeks for our breakdown of the Under-20 Girls Championship Division.
