Aussies in NBA: Cavaliers moving towards multi-year Delly deal
Discussions between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Matthew Dellavedova appear to be firming up. Cleveland extended an initial qualifying offer to Dellavedova earlier in the week, and the amount was reported to be $1.15 million.
That figure might not have been what Dellavedova had in mind. According to Shams Charania of RealGM, the team is currently moving towards a multi-year contract for the gritty Cleveland guard, with an annual ranging from $3 million to $5 million, or even more.
This is a rather significant jump from the rumoured basement price Cleveland offered. The fact that this discussion is even taking place, is evidence that the team recognises his contribution and impact, and is actually willing to negotiate for a suitable deal that keeps the guard in Cleveland.
The saga is not yet over, but it's looking more and more likely that Dellavedova will return in a Cavs uniform next season.
