Aussies in Summer League: Ben Simmons shifts his attention to shooting
Ben Simmons is taking the Summer League by storm! After impressing with his passing prowess in previous games, today he switched his focus to shooting.
Simmons got off to a slow start - missing his first three field goal attempts and turning the ball over twice, before hitting a stepback jumper in the second quarter to turn the tide. He finished with 18 points (7/13 FG), 3 rebounds and 2 assists in 29 minutes in the 70-83 loss against Chicago.

It was obvious from the outset that Simmons had made the decision to focus on scoring today. This concerted effort was a major shift away from the flashy passes we have seen in previous Summer League games.
The shift further demonstrated that whilst he still has plenty to work on, Simmons is putting together a game that will cause defences to have fits for many years to come.
He was able to score in a variety of ways - in the post against smaller opponents, driving to the basket and also stepping out to show off his mid-range game.
For Simmons to push through early struggles and not lose focus or confidence was a great sign. Shooting 7/10 from the field once hitting his first shot signalled to his teammates that he deserves to have the ball in his hands to score, not just pass the rock.
Keep an eye on Simmons in the coming days as his Sixers take on the Warriors on Wednesday morning.
