Aussie centre Aron Baynes has agreed to a two-year, $11 million dollar deal to returned to the Boston Celtics, per Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports.

The new deal, which was reported within minutes of free agency opening, includes a player option on the second year and sees Baynes earn around $5.5 million a year over the length of the deal.

After signing a one-year contract worth just over $4.3 million last off season, this new deal offers up a slight raise for Baynes, while also giving the Aussie flexibility and security moving forward.

Baynes is coming off arguably his most productive pro season to date, where he avereaged 6 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. The Aussie played a career high 18.3 minutes per game, and his defensive presence helped the Celtics maintain the league's best team defense.

The Aussie came up huge for head coach Brad Stevens when defending Sixers superstar Joel Embiid in the second round of the playoffs, and is set to help anchor Boston defensively moving forward.

After opting out of the final season of his deal in Detroit that owed him $6.5 million two years ago, Baynes bet on himself to make up the money in future deals. This new contract helps acheive that somewhat -- while playing a key role on a contender, no less.
