NBL: David Andersen to sign with Melbourne United

The NBL has continued to entice top-level Australian talent back home with the news that David Andersen will reportedly be playing for Melbourne United for the upcoming NBL season.

Andersen, who turned 36 last month, has played all over the globe during his decorated career; including stints in the NBA with Houston, Toronto and New Orleans.

More recently, Andersen won the 2016 French Pro A League Championship with ASVEL. He has represented Australia at the past three Olympics, and will once again be pulling on the green and gold in Rio next month.

Whilst rumours have been around for some time that Andersen would be playing for United, the news was officially broken by Olgun Uluc earlier today.

The signing of Andersen will help re-enforce Melbourne's front court. He will help fill the scoring void left by Daniel Kickert who is off to Brisbane, especially with his impressive outside shooting ability.

Melbourne have put together a star-studded roster for the 2016/17 season, with the signing of Cedric Jackson and re-signing of Chris Goulding already formally announced.

It will be interesting to see how the team meshes as United looks to bounce back form a very disappointing 2015/16 NBL Finals campaign.
