NBL 3×3 Pro Hustle tips off in Melbourne

Over the last couple of years 3×3 basketball has become a hugely popular sport worldwide. So much so that in 2020 it will make its debut at the Tokyo Olympics.

With the sport powering head, the NBL and Basketball Australia have teamed up to start 3×3 Pro Hustle series, the first edition of which will take place at Melbourne’s Docklands studios this Sunday from 9am to 6.30pm.

Taking to the court will be a host of star-studded line-ups featuring Olympians, NBL and WNBL stars, as well as one of the AFLW’s best.

The Pro Hustle is the first professional 3×3 event in Australia, with $10,000 on the line for the winner of each category.

Who’s Playing?

In the Open Women’s category Monique Conti, of the recently-crowned premiers the Western Bulldogs, will suit up alongside Maddie Garrick, Chloe Molloy and Jasmine Simmons, all members of the Melbourne Boomers WNBL team.

In the Open Men’s category, 500-game NBL veteran Oscar Forman will team up with former Portland Trail Blazer and Chicago Bulls big man Luke Schenscher.

Peter Crawford, a Boomer who went to the London Olympics and another NBL veteran in Anthony Petrie will also team up on the same side to try and take home the prize.

The iAthletic team will feature two-time NBL championship winner Tommy Greer. This team has shown they are a force to be reckoned with by already winning the South Australian, ACT and Victorian Big Hustle events.

A Great Day Out

This Sunday, fans will not only get a great dose of fantastic 3×3 basketball, they will also enjoy DJ’s, dunk contests, three-point shootouts, giveaways, while a number of food trucks will also be dishing up some great street food.

Both this Sunday’s 3×3 Pro Hustle, and the subsequent two editions, will be live streamed through the NBL’s digital platforms from start to finish for fans who can’t make it.

The Pro Hustle events are crucial as FIBA 3×3 ranking points from these events will go towards Australia’s qualification for the Olympics, as well as individual athletes fighting their way into the squad.
