Creek, Landale, and Green in Boomers squad for next round of FIBA World Cup Asian qualifiers
Mitch Creek and Jock Landale, fresh off their stints with the Dallas Mavericks and Atlanta Hawks NBA Summer League teams respectively, have been named to the Boomers team for the next round of FIBA World Cup Asian qualifiers.
The squad is set to start this round with an away day in Qatar on 13th September, before returning home to face Kazakhstan in Bendigo on 17th September.

Landale, who recently signed a 2-year deal to play for Partizan Belgrade of the ABA League, will be accompanied by fellow first-timer, Josh Green. Having these two young guns, both on the fringes of the NBA scene in their own ways, will inject the team with fresh energy as they seek to improve on their 5-1 record and to move on from the incident in Manila.
Unlike the last squad, which had Milwaukee Bucks teammates Matthew Dellavedova and Thon Maker, this roster doesn't contain anyone who's on a guaranteed NBA contract. That said, with Creek recently linking up with the Brooklyn Nets (with a chance to make the full roster), and the return of ex-Chicago Bulls forward Cameron Bairstow, this is still a team brimming with top talent.
Instead of a camp on home soil before flying to Qatar, the team plans to touch down a week before the game, getting used to the foreign climes in preparation for the game.
"We are obviously pleased to have completed stage one of qualifying on top of our group – this puts us in a strong position as we now enter stage two of the qualifying process," said Boomers head coach Andrej Lemanis.
"The challenge continues and we all look forward to continuing to work together and grow as a team."
