Madgen making big plays
Ben Madgen was making big plays in the EuroCup for Lietkabelis but could not avoid a one point loss to Cedevita Zagreb, while in the Euroleague, Brock Motum's BC Zalgiris Kaunas coming away with a dominating performance over German club Brose Bamberg.
Brock Motum had himself another nice game, scoring 8 points on an efficient 4/8 shooting from the field in 20 minutes of action. He wasn’t able to get into double-digit scoring this time, so he found other ways to contribute. Motum showed up defensively, getting his hands on 2 steals on the night, while also hauling in a solid 3 rebounds.
His club Zalgiris dominated Brose Bamberg almost all game. Besides a nice start from their German adversary, they were not bale to maintain it to match the Lithuanian powerhouse. Zalgiris totally outplayed them with an excellent showing through the second and third quarters, allowing them to go into the final frame up 71-55. Zalgiris would then go onto cruise to a 86-72 victory.

Lietkabelis Panevezys took on Croatian club Cedevita Zagreb in what was a close game that came right down the wire. Lietkabelis closed to within 65-67 thanks to a big play by Ben Madgen who landed a three-pointer with 44 seconds left to give them hope. Yet Cedevita would respond by making both free throws at the other end to edge back up by 4. Madgen would then create the assist for a final three-pointer that saw the final margin stand at 69-68, with Cedevita holding on by the narrowest of margins.
Ben Madgen was on fire from behind the arc, hitting 3 of his 6 shot attempts from deep. He finished the night with 15 points while hauling in a team leading 9 rebounds in 29 minutes of action. His energy and relentlessness on the defensive end also continued to be on display. Despite the loss, his clubs sits third in the Group A standings, making them still eligible to qualify for the EuroCup Top 16.
