Along with LSU and Yale, NCAA Division I side California-Berkley is also touring Australia in August, embarking on a 12 day itinerary with a 4 game schedule taking in Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra and Brisbane.
Cal arrive in Melbourne on 15 August ahead of consecutive games to be played in Frankston against a Victoria Select team and South East Australian Basketball League (SEABL) side Frankston Blues. They then take on the Basketball Australia Centre of Excellent (CoE) team at the Australian Institute of Sport, followed by a game against Australian National Basketball League (NBL) side Illawarra Hawks at the WIN Entertainment Centre in Wollongong.
Players to look out for during the Bear’s tour down under include First Team All-Pac-12 selection and Bob Cousy Award Finalist Tyrone Wallace, and High School All-Americans Jaylen Brown and Ivan Rabb – both potential first round NBA Draft picks.
On their tour of Australia, Cal are undertaking a preparation that they would be hoping will propel them to the Pac-12 title in 2016, especially in returning so many quality players and the addition of potential ‘one and done’ players.
The Bears will be taking in many of Australia’s tourist attractions, finishing with three days based in southeast Queensland to round out their Australian experience.
They are a quality team loaded with some amazing talent. So if you have the chance to get to watch them live, don’t miss the opportunity.
